Your exact cost after one quick scan
What Invisalign typically costs
Let’s start with the number everyone searches for. Nationally, comprehensive Invisalign treatment typically runs roughly $3,500 to $7,000, and simpler limited cases, the ones correcting a little crowding or a small relapse from old braces, cost less than that. Treat those figures as what-to-expect context, not a quote. Every mouth is different, and any office that promises you a price before looking at your teeth is guessing.
Here’s how we do it instead: at your consultation we take a 3D scan on our in-house iTero scanner (no goopy impressions), your doctor evaluates the actual movement your case requires, and you get your real number before you commit to anything. One scan, one honest figure, no bait-and-switch.
What drives the cost
- Case complexity. Rotating a canine or correcting a bite takes more staged movement, and more aligners, than closing a small gap.
- Treatment length. A 6-month touch-up and an 18-month comprehensive case are different products at different prices.
- Refinements. Many cases need a refinement set near the end to perfect the result. Ask any provider whether refinements are included in the fee or billed on top; it changes the real cost of the quote.
- Retainers. Every straightened smile needs retainers to stay straight. Know whether your first set is part of the price.

A caution about mail-order aligners
You’ve seen the ads: aligners shipped to your door for a fraction of the price. The discount is real, and so is what it buys. No doctor examines your teeth and gums before movement starts. No one places attachments, the small tooth-colored grips that make many movements physically possible, so the hardest parts of your case simply don’t get done. And when treatment drifts off plan, which teeth are famous for, there’s often no refinement path, just a dead end and a result you paid for but didn’t want. We regularly see patients whose cleanup costs more than supervised treatment would have from day one. Cheap aligners are only cheap when they work.
Ways Lynchburg patients make it affordable
- Insurance. Many dental plans contribute to Invisalign the same way they would for braces, through an orthodontic benefit. We verify yours before you commit.
- HSA / FSA. Invisalign is generally eligible for both, which stretches pre-tax dollars.
- Monthly financing. Spread treatment into predictable monthly payments instead of one lump sum. We’ll walk through the options at your visit.
- Virginia Dental Club. No insurance? Membership is $279 per year and takes 20% off treatment, including Invisalign.

Why an experienced program costs less in the end
The most expensive aligner case is the one that has to be done twice. Our clear aligner program draws on more than 1,000 cases completed across the Willis & Associates group. That volume means your treatment plan draws on pattern recognition most offices never accumulate: which movements stall, which cases need refinements, and how to stage things so the plan you approve is the plan that happens. Fewer surprises, fewer do-overs, and a number you can actually trust. Read more about the program on our Invisalign page, or call us at 540-315-3725with any cost question. We’ll give you a straight answer.

Common questions
Frequently asked
- What does Invisalign cost in Lynchburg?
- Nationally, comprehensive Invisalign treatment typically runs roughly $3,500 to $7,000, and simpler limited cases cost less. Where your case lands depends on complexity and treatment length. We give you your exact number after a quick iTero scan at your consultation, so you decide with a real figure in front of you, not a teaser rate.
- Does insurance cover Invisalign?
- Many dental plans contribute to Invisalign the same way they would for traditional braces, usually through an orthodontic benefit with a lifetime maximum. We verify your specific plan before treatment starts so you know your out-of-pocket cost up front.
- Can I pay monthly?
- Yes. Financing lets you spread treatment into monthly payments instead of one lump sum. We walk through the options at your consultation and help you pick a plan that fits your budget.
- Is Invisalign HSA or FSA eligible?
- Yes. Invisalign is generally HSA- and FSA-eligible, so pre-tax dollars can cover part of the cost. Many patients combine those funds with monthly payments to keep things manageable.
- What actually drives the price up or down?
- Four things, mostly: how complex the tooth movement is, how long treatment runs, whether refinement aligners are included in your fee or billed separately, and retainers at the end. When you compare quotes, make sure you're comparing what's actually included, not just the headline number.
- Are mail-order aligners a cheaper way to do this?
- They cost less up front, and that's where the advantage ends. Mail-order aligners skip the in-person exam, the x-rays, and the doctor who checks your progress every few weeks. They also can't use attachments, the small tooth-colored grips that make many movements possible. When a mail-order case stalls, there's often no refinement path, and fixing the result can cost more than doing it right the first time.
- What is the Virginia Dental Club?
- Our in-house savings plan for patients without dental insurance. Membership is $279 per year and includes 20% off treatment, including Invisalign. On a typical case, that discount is significant, often more than an insurance plan would have contributed.
- Does the program's experience change what I pay?
- Not directly, but it changes what you get for it. Our program draws on more than 1,000 cases planned across the Willis & Associates group. That experience shows up as accurate treatment plans, fewer mid-course surprises, and fewer expensive do-overs, which is where aligner treatment actually gets costly.
